Very labor intensive and completely made by hand, Joan manufactures all of her jewelry in a small studio in Anchorage.
The artwork for each design is sketched and then hand carved into a block. The base layer of each jewelry tile is a polymer which must be prepared and then pigmented prior to receiving the image itself.
A thick layer of resin gives the glossy, luminous appearance but not the weight of heavy glass.
Enjoy designs that vary from dog sleds to forget-me-nots, birch trees, ravens, moose, leaves and snowflakes. |
